Every entry is a reviewed JSON file in a public Git repository: no accounts, no backend, and the whole registry can be downloaded or forked.
Each entry points to an exact commit or release tag, so you install the version that was reviewed. Every night a bot moves entries to newer upstream versions, but holds one back when a file its install steps use is gone. Pages show whether a project is still maintained.
Every entry gets a generated installer that shows its plan first (--dry-run), keeps your existing files unless you approve, backs up what it changes and undoes it with --rollback. An install-step standard rejects piping downloads into a shell, deleting files and bootloader changes.
Entries are credited to the owner of the repository. Owners can claim theirs to show "Verified by author", and every claim, edit or removal request is checked against the GitHub account that sends it. Upvotes are 👍 reactions on GitHub.
